EMOTICONS: How it began...
EMOTICONS truly began in the fall of 2014 when I volunteered to paint faces for my son's school Halloween party. I had been craft painting for years, so I figured I could fill in with limited troubles. At that event, I discovered how many children loved having their faces painted, and how hard it had been for the school to find willing and interested people to do it. For two and a half hours, I sat with brush in hand as students asked to become vampires, tigers, butterflies and a variety of other characters. I had boys ask for logos for their favorite sports teams and girls ask for their names or a BFF (best friends forever) heart. There was no end to their creativity. And their smiles when they looked in the mirror were the best reward!
A few days later, a friend overheard me talking about how much fun I had painting and asked if I'd be willing to paint faces at her daughter's school. I said, "Sure. Why not? Sounds fun." Again I was surrounded by fun and creativity for hours as little girls became Elsa and boys became Spiderman, among other designs. At this event, I got a chance to work with professional face paints, and I was hooked!
Since starting out, I've painted faces for comic book conventions, professional and youth sporting events, birthday parties, fundraisers, community events and school events. Each time, I discover new levels of creativity in our children and a new depth to the love for what I'm doing.
Despite my recent focus on body art, I have explored a variety of artistic mediums over the years, so I decided to expand EFABA's artistic offerings. New mediums include airbrush art, pseudo-henna and balloon twisting and decor.
